I have been thinking a lot about the fact that almost all of us have the experience of trauma. For some of us it is obvious and for others it’s much more subtle. In my work with clients and in the amazing literature I’ve been reading I am finding the strong link between our physical bodies and the release of or — in many cases — the holding onto trauma.
Trauma can look like many things when it is embodied. It can show up as chronic pain, stomach aches, migraines, a weak immune system etc. It can also show up in an emotional quality including depression, anger, inability to make decisions, low self-esteem, etc.
The following article ( http://hereandnow.wbur.org/2015/01/12/treating-trauma-yoga )explains how yoga can heal trauma because it allows us to access this link between the physical body and trauma. I hope you find it useful. And, if you have any questions about this article or trauma in general, please feel free to reach out to me for more information.
