WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?

Jon Kabat-Zinn’s says,
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; On purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.”

Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surrounding environment. Mindfulness is non-judgmental in that while paying attention to our thoughts we don’t label them as good or bad, but rather, we simply notice them.

When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.
